This family is living without electricty in their home. Mrs. Gentzsch told me that it would cost about 2,500 Quetzals to hook up their electiricty. I looked on-line line, and found that 100 Quetzals = $11.94 US dollars. How many US dollars would it take to turn on the electrity in this home?

Desk Duck Goes to Guatemala!

Hello! I'm headed to the airport again. This time, I'm traveling to Guatemala with Mrs. Elletson's mother, Mrs. Gentzsch. We are traveling as part of a group of people who will be buiding PETS. These are really neat scooters that help people who can't get around easily. They are made out of wood and you use your hands to crank the wheels. I won't be able to send pictures right away, but I wanted to let you know that when I return, I'll have lots of pictures to share with the class.

The first thing I want you to figure out is the time change to Guatemala. Any idea, kids?

Desk duck didn't have a ticket to the concert, but I sure did have fun! All this talk about the New Year makes me wonder how many seconds are in a year?
