Last year I set a New Year's goal of reading 200 books or 60,000 pages. I had just finished a nice long winter break full of great reads, so when I made my goal I think I may have overestimated. It's October 13th and I've only read 76 books! I've been keeping track of my books and my page numbers in my reading journal. So far, my cummulative page number is 27,838. I'm hoping to finish my current book tonight, so I can start reading the book Larua recommened during SSR time tomorrow. Currently, I'm on page 284 of 353. When I finish, I will have read 77 books this year. If I finish this book tonight, how many pages will I have to average on a daily basis to meet my goal on December 31st? How many books will I have left to read? If I'm only concerned with meeting my goal, what kind of page-lengths should I look for when I pick my books? Can you tell me the average number of pages I've read each day up to this point? Can you tell me the average number of books per week? Most importantly, do you have any reading suggestions?!?

OK, since its 8:27 and i still have french HW i dont really have time to show my work or anything.
ReplyDeleteYou have to keep reading 357.78 pages per day, you have 23 books left, you should read 800-1000 paged books, the average pages per day so far is 967 pages,(takes a breath)you should read 3.85 books per week, and a book you can read is the new book in the twilight series... just kidding, i have no idea if there is a new twilight book, You should erad Brave Story, its more than 800 pages long.>_<
Wow that's a lot of questions! But, I have the answers!!!:)
ReplyDeleteYou would have to read 406.24... pages a day until Dec. 31st. Or on the other hand you woul have to read 123 books. If you only want to meet your goal read books with only a little amount of words on each page.So far the average amount of pages per day you've read is 97.58. And the average per week is 683.06 pages per week.
Oh yeah and 2 really good books to read are:
Thirteen Reasons Why By: Jay Asher and
Empire By: Orson Scott Card
That's what I have to say

I just read Adil's answers his and my answers are different. I'm probably wrong. Although it's 200 books not 100 so it would be 123 not 23.

Sorry it's late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I have it figured out... if you do the # of total pages still to read divided by the # of books left to read, you get 260.92 (round up) or 261 pages is what each book at least has to have. But, since the you have to read atleast 406.24 pages per day you would have to read a little more than 1 and a 1/2 a book if it is 261 pages. And as an answer to the second to last question it is... approximateley 9 books per week [maybe a little more or less (due to rounding)]

oh woops my bad its actually 123 books
ReplyDeleteLots of messups.. but WHO IS RIGHT??
